Hillsborough Indian Dies in I-287 Crash

Ravi Naik (23) of Hillsborough, two unidentified people and several cows died Saturday evening in a multi-vehicle crash on I-287.

A graduate of Rutgers University in Economics and Statistics, Ravi Naik joined the Marketing Analytics department of digital ad agency R/GA in New York City in August 2015 as an analyst.

On his Linkedin profile, Ravi cited education, health, human rights and science and technology as issues he cared about.

Multi-Vehicle Crash

New Jersey state police said that at 10:32 P.M., Ravi Naik was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra when he struck a disabled cattle trailer in the right shoulder.

Following the collision, Ravi parked on the right shoulder and exited his vehicle.

A short while later, Xu Feng Ma, who was driving a 2003 Ford passenger van northbound on Interstate 287 with 12 passengers, veered onto the right shoulder and struck the cattle trailer and Ravi Naik.

Besides Ravi Naik, two passengers in the Ford van died.

More than a dozen people were hospitalized.

New Jersey State Police are still investigating the crash and have not announced any charges.
