An unnamed Indian national from Hackensack, New Jersey is among the 77 criminal aliens arrested by the Newark (NJ) office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations during the 30 days “Public Safety” operation conducted from July 22 – August 30, 2020.
Besides the Indian national, the arrested individuals include nationals of Brazil, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Trinidad, Uniked Kingdom and Venezuela.
The arrestees range from age 19 to 63 years and most were previously convicted of various offenses including:
* Domestic violence offenses
* Sexual assault on a minor
* Criminal sexual contact
* Child fondling
* Possession of marijuana
* Possession of a weapon
* Aggravated assault
* Resisting arrest
* Public order crimes,
* Illegal reentry
The 77 criminal aliens have been arrested from the counties of Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Union, and Warren, New Jersey.
The individuals arrested during the July-August 30-day public safety operation will remain in ICE’s custody pending removal or immigration proceedings.
